- 1000 mile challenge
- Trail to 5k

Wednesday 22nd January 2025
Completed my lunchtime walk, got a bit damp! Found another beginners standing yoga video on youtube which I completed, not too bad. Then did the HIT for running sent by the Trail to 5k people. This was hard on the old leg muscles, which are tired anyway from yesterday's epic movement!haha. Pleased I still smashed my goal for RED January and didn't hate all the movement- I used to hate most of these types of things! Boots on: 1.05 miles, no booze.
Thursday 23rd January 2025
No lunchtime walk today, busy old day at work. Forgot my head torch so decided to go to a quieter road and do week 1 run 3 of couch to 5k. Parked up, 5 minute brisk warm up walk led to me having to run past the busiest bit which caused me major anxiety, but I did it. The rest had very little traffic- people or cars- so that was good. Got it done, leg muscles were aching but not too bad, tried to keep a steady pace. Fitbit continues to be a butt, apparently I am continuing to under train. Think I may need to sack it off, I have never exercised this much in my entire life! Boots on: 2.02 miles, no booze.
Friday 24th January 2025
Really busy day at work, no lunchtime walk and finished late. Definitely wanted wine tonight, but didn't! Went for a walk, not for fast walking or running, but the enjoyment of being out and moving. Boots on: 3.26 miles. Enjoyed the walk, I remember when doing a 3mile walk would have left me feeling tired, now it just fits in nice! We had a lovely takeaway pizza and chips for tea, soooo good! No booze.
Saturday 25th January 2025
Today was going to be a chilled day, with a walk tomorrow, but we had lovely winter sun and rain/winds are forecast tomorrow. So we decided to go off and walk up Moel Famau! I will give this walk its own page I think, my first Marilyn of 2025, and it felt really hard!haha. Boots on: 3.66 miles, no booze.
Sunday 26th January 2025
Windy wet day, so made a good choice yesterday! Achey glutes and thighs for sure. Did a 15minute walking youtube video, kept it nice and easy. Movement doesn't have to be hard and I want my body to recover and improve, not end up injured. Off work this week so planning other things for the week, at least one longer more challenging walk, and an adventure day out to a local sculpture park which will be fun. No booze.

Monday 27th January 2025
Went to visit my aunt and uncle today in their beautiful house, had a good chat and was lovely to catch up. Had a look for some second hand ovens, but none suitable for what we need, shame. Took Flora for a walk along the beach, managed to avoid the rain which was good. Have a plan to go to the Alwen tomorrow, hoping to find the Marilyn nearby and bag my second all being well! Boots on: 3.19 miles, no booze. Popped in a picture of another beautiful sunrise!
Tuesday 28th January 2025
Well, we did find the Marilyn, traipsed across bog in the fog, slow and very unsteady progress, added about a mile onto the walk in total. Cool spot though, worth the wander ultimately. Whole walk around the Alwen was shrouded in fog the entire walk, was quite atmospheric but also a shame as the views are stunning usually! Will do a separate post about this walk too, got some good photos. 8.41 miles boots on today, no booze.
Week 4 round up:
- Completed RED January, for week 4, moved every single day. Have felt fed up of this one a couple of times this week!haha.
- Completed Dry January for the week, as I am off work, have fancied wine most days, looking forward to some red wine in Feb!
- 1000 mile challenge: 21.59 boots on miles completed this week. Total so far is 90.24/1000 miles
- Trail to 5k, sort of moving along, did 1 couch to 5k in this last week, but did one really tough uphill walk and one longer harder walk. Both of which fatigued my legs so quickly so has meant not really felt ready to push more. Finding it hard to find the balance here.
- To add in, two Marilyn's added to my list this week, including one which was a goal of the year- Moel Famau!
