Walking part of the Offa's Dyke path for training

Looking for walks in the more local area, my dad suggested looking at sections of the Offa's Dyke path. We have walked parts of it in a loop many years ago and once even walked from Moel Famau back to Meliden- I was a young teen then, so full of energy! There is a lot of information online, though I am debating buying a book, love a book! Any suggestions of which one to pick, please let me know! On this morning, I wasn't really feeling it, so I lazed around with the doggies and headed off around 11am. I didn't want to walk from the beach, through town and up, so parked in upper Prestatyn and joined the trail at Gwaenysgor hill. After I parked, I realised there is a little car park on that section of hill, so I wouldn't have had to walk on the road at all. Good to know for the future.

Loggerheads 5k

After signing up to the trail to 5k in December last year, the day of the run had come around 08/03/2025- far too quickly! As I had noted in Jan, I didn't attend anymore in person sessions as I was feeling far too anxious about the fact I was really a beginner, having never ran before! I struggled with elements of the plan, mostly mentally, I had a real block in my brain about the whole running thing. So I decided to break it down, keep on hill walking as I am in training for my marathon trek in June, that will help with trail running ups, and then started couch to 5k as I felt I needed something really solid to follow. I chose Sarah Millican as my person as I love her accent and find her hilarious in general. This was at the end of Jan- I was afraid that I had started it too late as it was a 9week course and my run was before then!

Alwen Reservoir and Mwdwl Eithin Marilyn

The Alwen Reservoir, looking ferocious, water gushing through the dam, fog in the distance, so much drama. We decided Tuesday 28th January was the perfect day to go for a hike, I have had my eye on this Marilyn which goes off from the lake path, for a few months now. Ramblingartist had posted about this on Instagram, and I found her page whilst researching last month. She very kindly sent me some more details on how to find it, which was a fabulous help. I bought my favourite wrap from Sainsbury's, a double chocolate brownie, banana and a protein yogurt drink as well as squash to keep me going. Husband brought a chicken tzatziki wrap, two mini sausage rolls, a monster and squash, Flora got carrots and dog treats, as well as her own water to keep her hydrated. All kept together in my Proviz 20 litre day pack- amazing Christmas present (photo of husband wearing the bag, with its fabulous bright yellow waterproof cover on).
