Back in September last year- I think it was September- we walked Penycloddiau, it is a Marilyn and is technically not that big, just another hill. I found it so hard to walk up, and struggled with negative thoughts the whole way round. I had been chatting with husband about whether we could go after I finish work one day, and try it again. See if I can manage better now I am lighter, and presumably fitter?
We picked a day where husband had been home with the staffies all day so they did not feel abandoned, I came home from work got straight into husbands car and off we trotted. He made a lovely hot chocolate for the top, packed some snacks, used his new canicross dog kit and off we went. We chose to go along the left hand path, from my initial walk I felt this way felt the best, warm up into the steep bit, then downhill all the way back to the car park. As soon as we set off, we knew it was going to be a beautiful evening. The route we completed wasn't quite 2.5miles in total, so great for an after work adventure.
This post is mostly about sharing beautiful sunset photos if I am honest! I found myself managing the walk we did so much better, the uphill did get me and I needed plenty of breathing breaks, but not like before. I am improving! We got to the top, and it was just gorgeous. We brought a headtorch and hand held torch just in case it got dark, so we were well prepared. We got back to the car in plenty of time, and I have fallen in love with Penycloddiau, maybe my new favourite place?
